☀️ Episode #2: Choubaka visits Marie-Galante
Choubaka goes to discover this large 15km diameter slab floating off Guadeloupe. The island today has a little over 12 000 inhabitants, spread over 3 communes: Capesterre, Grand-Bourg and Saint-Louis. The population is rural and its economy remains mainly oriented towards agriculture. The cultivation of sugar cane is predominant with 3 distilleries and a sugar refinery. Then come fishing and tourism that develops slowly on the island. If the sea side offers a multitude of shades of blue, the land side offers an incredible mosaic of greens. The shores are lined with cliffs to the north, the rest of the coast is mostly made up of many white sand beaches protected by coral reefs. Inland presents hilly, rural and picturesque landscapes, mixing sugar cane fields, forests and mangroves. The activities are not lacking and Choubaka is spoiled for choice… following the next episode.
